André Tehrani’s solo exhibition Hard Copy explores notions of standardization, digitalization and editioning as conceptual starting points. The presentation consists respectively of a series of images made from semitransparent pieces of tint foil mounted on sheets of glass, a selection of inkjet prints based on digital scans of the same type of plastic film and three shaped aluminium panels scaled according to the Scandinavian research organisation SINTEF’s estimates for the dimensions and spatial requirements of the human body. In addition to juxtapositions of these three series of works, Tehrani’s project calls attention to the exhibition format as a kind of presentational system, by visualizing the communicational material that accompanies the show – i.e the exhibition title, the press release and the list of works – and having these instructional texts masquerade as art objects in the gallery space.
André Tehrani (b. 1980 in Tønsberg, Norway) is an artist who currently lives and works in Oslo. Previous solo presentations include The Miracle of Rigid Fluids (Kunstnerforbundet, Oslo, 2017), Some General Thoughts on Wreckage (Tegnerforbundet, Oslo, 2014), Idiot Cards For a Bygone Revolt (NoPlace, Oslo, 2013) and Lost Allusions (Entrée, Bergen, 2013). His next solo exhibition in Oslo is Parking & Transportation at Gallery LNM (in 2018).
