Fog, Linn Pedersen 2010, C-Print, 80x90cm

MELK is proud to present a solo-show with Linn Pedersen entitled The Trouble with Matter.

In reverse it will happen like this: You leave the room with a treppenwitz; a clever remark that comes to mind a little too late. While approaching the framed images of a fog, a fleece, a bonfire, a branch; the trouble and desire; you stumble on a belated threshold (a limit, a boundary, a frontier that both distinguishes and connects two worlds). You enter the room.

Pedersen’s photographs of modified objects, averted figures and atmospheric conditions deals with the impossibility of not to project ones inner life onto the external world, animating the landscape into an extension of the observers own mentality.

Linn Pedersen (b. 1982, Sortland Norway) holds her degree from the Art Academy in Bergen (BA, 2006) and Central Saint Martins in London (MA, 2009). She has been active in the young art scene in Norway since 2002 with participation at exhibitions in Oslo, , Bergen, Kristiansand, London, Prague, Amsterdam and as curator of exhibitions in Oslo, Bergen, Prague and London. Pedersen had her first solo show in Oslo at Gallery Maria Veie in the fall of 2010 and participated in Scandinavian Forest curated by MELK at Akershus Art Centre in the spring of 2011. She is currently the artistic director of LIAF (Lofoten International Art Festival) with Thora Dolven Balke. From December 2011, Pedersen will participate in a residency program at the Künstlerhaus Bethanien in Berlin.

MELK er stolte av å presentere utstillingen The Trouble with Matter av Linn Pedersen.
