Geir Moseid - Plucked at MELK 2010

MELK is proud to present Geir Moseid’s first Norway solo-exhibition under the title Plucked.

Moseid has since 2007 worked with Plucked as an investigation of the home duality, social segregation, urban alienation and interpersonal relationships. This duality extends further through the use of the ethical guidelines of both traditional social documentary and staged photography. The pictures are related to the conscious awareness of aesthetic features that are not necessarily dependent on authenticity, which verifies the staged photograph approach to social investigation and reflection.

The stage for Moseid’s home and its function, a place where you can be intimate and private. The feeling of safety that a home creates is built around the fact that outsiders can not see into or monitor what one is doing behind the private four walls. This occurs duality issues as no one can see the worst abuses which occurs inside peoples homes. These abuses include sexual, psychological and physical violence.

Moseid held a solo exhibition at the renowned gallery Flowers in East London in 2008, and recently participated in a group exhibition at Exit Vestfold Kunstmuseum mounds. In addition, he has participated in group exhibitions in the U.S. and Germany. He has won awards in England and Germany, and has been featured in the international photography magazine hotshoe where he also won the prestigious hotshoe student award.

In 2008, Moseid graduated his BA (Hons) Photography from the London College of Communication.

The exhibition is supported by the Norwegian Photographic Fund.

Plucked is the fourth in a series of exhibitions showcasing focus on young Scandinavian Design.

Norsk:

I 2008 mottok Moseid BA (Hons) Photography fra London College of Communication.
